Beta-Psi, at a period of its origination, was a westmost chapter of Kappa Sigma. Kappa Sigma was a Sixth national fraternity present at the UW. Earliest UW fraternities sequentially of their establishment were Sigma Nu, Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Delta Theta, Beta Theta Pi, and Sigma Chi.
First Meetings
within the early years, there was there are no Beta-Psi chapter home for brothers to survive & meet in. A chapter held its 1st meetings in the basement of the Neptune Theater in NE 45th Street.
However the members were non while forgoing a page for yearn. By 1910, the chapter was residing around a home at 5015 Eighteenth Avene NE.
Then, by 1915 they got moved to 5235 Univesity Blvd (okay, 17th Avenue NE).
Their next home was at 5004 17th Avenue NE. This has been typically known as a "castle". It moved to this location by 1924.
Fallowing sleep in the castle for several years, Beta-Psi moved to 4722 21st Avenue NE. This is the home known to several older alumni. When of 2005, a property experienced been redeveloped using an flat complex.
Fraternities as much as a United States struggled to maintain membership during a late 1960s & early Seventies. Beta-Psi was non excluded from either this trend, & got to give higher their home due to moo membership which led to budget deficit. Within 1974, it moved to the little property nearer to the university. a home was to become a irregular home until the membership increased. Since so, it use remained at 4543 18th Avenue NE. It is placed between 2 sororities, their national sister sorority Chi Omega and Delta Zeta.
Recent Events
Within 1998, a Kappa Sigma international fraternity reorganized the chapter fallowing many years of slow enlisting. That fall, merely 4 undergrad brothers remained in the home. Nevertheless, it come back from either a moo amounts & initiated Twenty-seven freshly members above a next Iv years. a newly members experienced a renewed concentrate on faculty member & for many years were systematically rated among the top Five away from Xxviii UW fraternities for gpa.
In the wintertime & spring of 2000, retired alumni remodeled the third floor living areas of the house. It installed ethernet, cable & telephone line into every room too when built recently bunk beds for each room.
A chapter celebrated its 100th season of being around December of 2003. Dwelling brothers from either either either each decade since a Thirties attended a celebration, retelling stories from their instance when undergrad & making fresh bonds by using brothers from more generations.
